What is Inconel 600?

Inconel 600 / UNS N06600 is an alloy with a combination of Nickel and Chromium. It is used for a wide spectrum of applications that requires high temperature strength and corrosion resistance. This alloy was mainly designed for service temperatures from cryogenic to raised temperatures up to 2000° F. This alloy is non-magnetic, high temperature alloy that has excellent mechanical properties and offers the desirable combination of high strength,hot and cold workability and exceptional resistance to ordinary form of corrosion. It also presents good heat resistance and freedom from ageing or stress corrosion throughout the annealed to heavily cold worked machining conditions. Its ability to withstand corrosion in number of forms has made this alloy the perfect for use in furnace components and chemical processing equipment. It is also used effectively in the food industry and in nuclear engineering, because Inconel 600 alloy will maintain its structure in applications that would otherwise cause permanent distortion to other alloys.

Corrosion Resistance
